Need a Word from God?

Do you need a WORD FROM GOD today?

I do.

The trouble is, I never know quite what I want.

Maybe that’s why I often find myself looking to God for some sort of profound insight or glimpse into who I am or what He wants to do.

Earlier this year, Alethea and I sensed from the Lord that it was time to step down from pastoring the church we planted 18 years ago. It was not a decision we made lightly, but we have peace about it and no regrets for the years we spent laboring for souls in Chicago.

We’ve taken a leap of faith and are now simply leaning into the Lord to direct us. What that looks like, we don’t fully know yet. We’re just taking it one step at a time.

Hence, a WORD

Many believers, myself included, deeply desire for God to just drop a supernatural WORD OF DIRECTION on them. They long to be called out of a crowd at a conference, or to receive a call from someone they haven’t heard from in years saying, “I was praying and God brought you to my mind…”

While I do believe that can happen (it’s happened to me), it’s the exception more than the rule.

When Jesus called His disciples, He didn’t give them a five-year plan, lay out ministry goals, or even tempt them with a benefits package. He simply said, “Come, follow me.”

Discipleship before direction.
Pursuit before production.
Presence before promotion.

Maybe you need a WORD FROM GOD today. How about I give you three?

Come. Follow. Me.

This is how you discover God’s will—following the Master, day by day and step by step. And somewhere along the way, you’ll discover you’re exactly where God wants you to be.
